4 Days of Gaming Goodness is going to be a fun time for all attendees. Most of us are old friends (even if through the internet), and we trust each other. Having said that, the Convention Staff would be remiss if we did not advise all convention attendees, volunteers, guests, exhibitors, and staff members of the following Convention Code of Conduct. Upon receipt of your badge, each attendee, volunteer, or exhibitor will be asked to sign an attendee acknowledgement of this expected code of conduct. (Legal guardians of minors attending the convention will need to do the same.) Let’s keep this convention a fun, friendly, and safe environment!
Convention Code of Conduct (CCoC):
Purpose: GamerNationCON believes our community should be truly open to everyone. As such, we are committed to providing a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for all. This code of conduct outlines our expectations for participant behavior as well as the consequences for unacceptable behavior. (We invite all sponsors, volunteers, guests, attendees, media, exhibitors, vendors, and other participants to help us realize a safe and positive convention experience for everyone.)
Expected Behavior: Be considerate and respectful. Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory or harassing behavior and speech. Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow attendees. Alert convention directors if you notice a dangerous situation or someone in distress.
Unacceptable Behavior: Unacceptable behaviors include: vulgar, intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory, or demeaning conduct by any attendees of GamerNationCON and its related events and functions. Some GamerNationCON venues may be shared with members of the public; please be respectful to all patrons of these locations. Harassment includes: offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, disability; inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images in public spaces; deliberate intimidation, stalking or following; harassing photography or recording; sustained disruption of events; inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior: Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated whether by attendees, media, guests, volunteers, organizers, staff, sponsors, exhibitors, or vendors. Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in unacceptable behavior, the convention directors may take any action they deem appropriate, including expulsion from the convention and any related events without warning or refund, or a notification of the local authorities.
What to Do if You Witness or are Subject to Unacceptable Behavior: If you are subject to unacceptable behavior, notice that someone else is being subject to unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please notify a convention director as soon as possible. All reports will remain completely confidential. The GamerNationCON team will be available to help participants contact local law enforcement, to provide escorts, or to otherwise assist those experiencing unacceptable behavior to feel safe for the duration of the convention.
Liability: GamerNationCON Staff and GamerNation LLC assume no responsibility or liability for any damage to or loss of personal property, personal injury, or illegal behavior and actions during the convention. Each attendee is responsible for their own belongings, behavior, and adherence to local laws.
Scope: We expect all convention participants (sponsors, volunteers, guests, attendees, exhibitors, and vendors) to abide by this code of conduct at all convention venues and convention-related social events.
